About Dr. Stephanie Logan

Stephanie R. Logan is an associate professor of elementary and multicultural education at Springfield College, where she also serves as the chair of the department of education. At Springfield College, Dr. Logan serves as the co-chair of the Race and Ethnicity Working Group and represents the interest of the department in the regional Diverse Teacher Workforce Coalition’s Sustaining Change sub-committee. Previously, Dr. Logan served as an assistant/associate professor of elementary and multicultural education and briefly served as the elementary division program coordinator at the University of Northern Iowa.

While serving at the University of Northern Iowa, Dr. Logan was responsible for initiating professional development and faculty support for multicultural education and advising the Multicultural Teaching Alliance She was a former elementary school teacher in Newport News, VA and a former elementary and middle school counselor in Columbus, OH, and Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Logan holds an Ed.D. in Urban Educational Leadership from Morgan State University, an M.A. in Counselor Education from the Ohio State University, and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Morgan State University. Her research interests include preparing culturally competent pre-service teachers, creating inclusive classroom and campus environments, and social studies teaching in elementary classrooms. Most recently, Dr. Logan served as the co-editor of Integrating Social Justice Education in Teacher Preparation Programs. Recently Dr. Logan completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Get Loved Up. She looks forward to integrating what she has learned into her work with pre-service and practicing teachers, and especially with those in higher education environments wrestling with racial battle fatigue.
